Introducing leggings. You’ll never run out of inspiration.

Magnus (detail) by ian osborne

Currently unavailable for purchase

Watercolour on 425 gsm paper
W&N paint – Burnt Sienna and French Ultramarine

I was commissioned to paint this ‘portrait’ by the mother of Magnus. She sent me some images indicating the style that she wanted me to try to achieve. The painting measures 58 × 37 cm. Magnus is about 10 cm tall (in the painting not in the flesh)
I handed over the painting today and she is delighted with the result.

This upload is a photograph taken indoors with a flash so not great quality.

How the full painting may look framed….

I paint watercolours and write short stories.

This is quite different from all the things you do, Ian but I like it very much especially the not so usual way of painting a person back turned and the only 2 colours used

  • Thanks Corinne. Yes, this was a change and has got me thinking….I might do some more similar!

You captured that layed back “let’s look cool” look that young boys try so hard to achieve…

  • In the original photo he was holding his mum’s hand…not so cool!!
    Thanks Jim!
