Another painting of this bustling market which takes place every wednesday morning in the small town of
Piégut in the Périgord Vert region of France.

As of next week we will have a spot for the rest of the summer in the shade of these tall trees. It will make a nice change from having to follow the ‘placier’ around for half an hour before we can get set up!

When it comes to color, you have such a wonderful light touch – your paintings are so easy on the eyes. Looks like a wonderful market place to set up. Wishing you & Fran the very best under those trees!

  • Thanks Marsha. We’re looking forward to being in the shade throughout the hot summer. Thanks for the fave.

I love ALL your market scenes, Ian. The people seem so natural in doing their everyday life shopping and you express our market life so well !! for instance carrying the plastic bags, so very usual here, the baskets full of goodies, veggies or whatever….and always this special lighting of yours : it’s sunny everyday in your painting ! On peut reconnaître aussi nos platanes si typiques in the background….Une scene très réjouissante and an instant fav

  • Wow! What a lovely comment Corinne. I just finished this today after going through a phase yesterday where I thought I’d screwed it up. Today I think it’s OK. Merci bien de favoriser.???

What a great scene! I love it because it brings back lots of memories. I can hear the noises of the market too…… Beautiful, Ian!

  • Merci Colombe. Le marché à Piégut est le plus important dans le région. En été c’est difficile de marcher dans les rues de la ville. Plein de monde!! Pour nous pas beaucoup de ventes…
