On my trip back home I had the good fortune of both a window seat, clear skies and a clean window. We took off in a little DASH 8-314 for a flight to Frankfurt. It was a strange experience to climb so steeply over the Alps while the height above the mountain tops kept more or less constant because the mountains got higher and higher.
I’m not afraid of flying, on the contrary I enjoy it very much, but I couldn’t help taking a look at the port turboprop just to the left of this view once in a while thinking how on earth one performs an emergency landing in such a terrain!
No reasons to worry, though, the turboprops were most reliable Rolls-Royce’s.
