You may wonder about the title. This is a very nice and peaceful spot – but just imagine to be atop this rock, some 80 feet above – and no handrail!

This was shot around a little pond is called The Opal Lake. Not really a lake, but merely a little and quite deep pond made by man. This was a quarry, and the rocky sides bear many a trace of having been drilled and blown off with dynamite. Some say it got it’s name from the colour of the water, and some say it’s from the shape of the pond.
Of course, nature conservationists stopped this enterprise long ago, and thank God it happened before enterprising people succeeded in selling the entire rocky part of the island of Bornholm.
Today this place is a most popular place for rapelling on the vertical, sometimes outward sloping rocky walls. They also suspend an aerial ropeway from the top of the highest rock to the surfafe of the pond during summer.

Actually, these images are a result of me dwelling in a little book by Ansel Adams called “Yosemite”. I had a hard time trying to figure out and find the bigger reason why I wasn’t born somewhere close to the Yosemite park i the USA! Until my dear wife told me: “C’mon, pull yourself out of your self-created misery and go find somewhere here, that you can turn into your own Yosemite”. That was a kick in the arse, and I immediately thought about this place. I told my wife: “Well, thank you – I’m off, you’ll see me when I get back”. And I spent most of a day here. And I shall go there some more times, I’m sure.
