On the little Danish island of Bornholm, we have trolls. That is a fact. The story goes that the trolls live in two places here. Under the rocks on the northern part, and in the forest covering the central part of the island. Most Danes would know the most famous of all trolls, Krølle Bølle.
This is from the latter place, however. This forest is quite large (from Danish standards, it’s the third biggest in Denmark). It covers most of the central part of the island, and right here we’re close to the highest point of the island also, 152 meters above sea level.
The trolls have their heydays during winter, when the lighted hours are few. They thrive during darkness. They would never expose themselves to human beings. Though several persons claim to have met them in the darkness, nobody has seen them well enough to describe how they look.

One foggy morning I was on my way to my dentist, who resides on the other side of the island. Having seen the foggy weather from home, and knowing I should come across this place, I had brought my camera with the purpose to catch some of the trolls on my image sensor before they had a chance to disappear.

But, of course they had disappeared before I got out of my car, but I got some nice, foggy shots anyway….

This tiny little island is said to be a picnic resort for the trolls during nights.

Keep searching Keld – maybe you need to use infra red to catch them!! Another beautiful misty image.

We have trolls too here in Iceland Keld but ours are big and very mean. They are said to live in mountains and big rocks. Very few people have seen them and lived to tell.

Great photo Keld, shame you didnt catch the trolls.

  • Thank you so very much, Thordis. I shall succeed – one day…
My goodness, poor you. Here the trolls are very small and quite nice. In the worst case they just amuse themselves by kidding us humans in innocent ways.

    G’day KELD!

I really like the dark, broody mood you have created with this foggy photograph.
The imagery conjures up many a spooky tale and your Troll story suits it very well indeed.
I also like how you have further isolated the little island by your composition.
