so if it's looking at art and words is it still procrastination?

I’m worried, very worried. I’m just about to start working part-time and dedicate some real time to writing, then along comes Red Bubble with all its amazing imagery and supportive words, all it’s inspiring creators and movers and shakers. Lately I am a little tentative to even log-in cos I know log-out will be a long way off. I think maybe I need to limit myself to an hour or so bubbling as a reward for a couple of hours solid writing? Does anyone else have a reward/trick system to suggest for the easily distracted?

You have to make it a habit, and to achieve that you have to practice forming habits.

I practice my habit ‘exercises’ with alcohol and cigarettes.

You also need to set goals eg 8 beers, 12 cigarettes, 4 hrs sleep and 1000 words a day.

    Kerouak would do 10x that.

    Hope this helped.

One of my tutors helped me with this – make it a rule that the first thing you do when you wake up is write (by hand!) at least four A4 pages. Just free-writing, about anything, as long as you don’t stop. I find that, as well as doing wonders for writer’s block, it also serves to whet your appetite for the day. Easier to focus, then.
I get distracted so easily so I sympathise with you!

Also, if you find you don’t want to write while sitting at your computer, try taking an excursion to the local library or someplace, with a notebook or whatever. Sometimes being away from home spurs you on to complete things so you can get back sooner (to play redbubble).
