We launched leggings! Step into a world of individuality.

With my satchel full of papers clutched to my chest, I cursed the driving rain sweeping down Angel row, battering my tatty umbrella on my twice daily walk. Abandoning the frame of my inside out umbrella to the bin, I drip steadily through the library to the top floor, where I greet the grinning librarian with a grunt.

“What are the chances of you finishing here today Nina ?” Jack returned my pile of books from behind the counter.

“I don’t know…” Shaking my head, I spread my sodden coat on the chair nearest the heater. “I hope to.”

“You must’ve read all we have.”

Nodding ruefully, I settle down in my chair, wishing Jack would leave me in peace to concentrate. I would see enough of him later.

“You do know you’ll abandon me to a silent room again.”

I shrugged and remained silent, hoping to give him the hint. Typically he seemed oblivious.

“This is the quietest department in this library, and I’m not allowed to leave it…what a job I chose!?”

Opening the nearest book, I flipped through the pages, listening to the satisfying whoosh as the paper flapped against each other, over sailing Jack’s continued ramble.

With my pen pressed against the paper ready to write, I was so focused on the words before me that I barely noticed my phone’s vibrations in my pocket until Jack taped my shoulder.

“You shouldn’t really have that in here…” He grinned. “But as I’m your…”

“Hey boss.” I flicked the phone open before I missed the call.

Automatically, my pen scribbled details as I listened to Paul’s abrupt descriptions. As usual he ended the phone call on an assumption, but my interest had been piqued so I didn’t care. Carelessly shoving my papers in the bag, I reached for the coat.

“You’re not staying then?”

“No… it seems that someone has started a copy cat spree, and my boss wants me to investigate.”

“A copy cat? Of what?”

“This story. So I have to follow it up.”

“Oh….I see…. Yes…” My brother spluttered his face paling.

Not sure this is great…

I am trying to get a back ground understanding and practice for a short story, crime competition so thought I would use the star twister 64 competition Chance as a starting point…

Followed by further development…:
