A speckled wood buttefly, photographed on the woodland path of Arley Hall and Gardens woodland walk in Chehire.

As the name suggests the Speckled wood can be found in areas of woodland or hedgerow throughout most of Britain- although are become more localised to the North, and indeed Europe, feeding on suggary Aphid secretions when they reach maturity, or grasses in caterpillar form.
