I’ve been into photography since I was about 8 years old – I started with a Canonet rangefinder, then upgraded to a Canon AE-1 when I was about 10. Photography in one form or another has always been an important part of my life.

In 1982 I took a photo of a protest on the Gordon River – this was a famous demonstration against the proposed Franklin River dam (a political event which got Bob Hawke elected to Prime Minister in Australia) – this photo taken on Kodachrome 64 slide film with my AE-1 is kept with Cooee Picture Library and gets published several times a year. This moment, so I thought at the time, was going to be the start of a great career in photography. Somehow I ended up being an engineer though … I can’t really complain.

During my summer holidays at university I had the pleasure of working for the Kodak Retail Group. I also took a year off mid-way through my degree to work in photographic retail. I really enjoyed this time – I learned to process film, sell cameras and general customer service. A great experience.

I only started digital SLR photography in 2010 and this has opened up a whole new world to me. I do still enjoy film photography however, so I use both mediums to capture my images.

Found!

Well today my ‘Old Piano’ photo was placed on the Redbubble ‘Found’ homepage! I’m pretty happy with that, especially since i’ve been on Flickr for 2 years, posted over 1,500 photos and never been Explored … nice to get some recognition for something I love doing. / Thanks Redbubble!!
