This piece was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s books about Alice and her adventures in Wonderland. It’s an everyday view of some of the elements of those stories. The Cheshire Cat becomes a calico cat, playing with the pocket watch that was carried by the White Rabbit. The Red and White Queens are ordinary chess pieces, though the Red Queen still lays on her side in defeat. The Queen of Hearts is a playing card from a normal deck of playing cards. The Mad Hatter’s Hat, however, is very real.
