Karen ( August self portrait) by

You give your partner a new lens for your 5 year annivesary and what does he do capture you looking windswept and a little hot in jeans and walking boots.
It was cloudy at mine 30 mins drive away and hit the beach and everyone in swimsuits and bikini and swimming in the sea.

This is my next image for my own self challenge to have a image of myself or self portrait to help me grow to love my face and to keep mental chains away from rebinding me, and taking me back to a dark place I was in for quiet a while

*I have to say I love this image and it is a full body shot who would of believed I would accept this so openly (used to hide from camera not so long ago).but it really captures me out doing what I love walking and photgraphy alongside Simon but my hair freshly cut and blowed dried that morning reminds me of a poodle.

Image taken by Simon duckworth but he happily said I would be able to use this for this months portrait. Thank you sweetpea

bravo! Love what you wrote because it hits a chord with me! It’s so nice to see you doing what you love to do and with such passion :)

  • Hi Michelle, thank you for your lovely words, it has and still is a learning process and I only started this journey a few months back all because of a challenge in ther D90 group. This is what I wrote about the experience here and why I decided to take the step to challenge myself to do a portrasit each month. I have to say it has helped a great deal and know more then comfortable to have my face infront of the camera. Body shots something else. But it is a reminder to me to keep the chains and past voices away and to remember what others may of said and made you feel and totally beleive after years of stuff thrown at you. That you have to find ways of undoing the chains , this has become mine.

Hey beautiful lady :) What a great frame of mind you are in right now and may you stay there and grow even more. I’m working on that whole self acceptance thing myself so I know it isn’t easy because I have been struggling with it for a long time. It’s people like you and your sp project that take me one step closer to that. Thank you for sharing you so openly and honestly Karen. You are a beautiful woman both inside and out :)

It’s so wonderful that you are overcoming your challenges Karen, and it’s so lovely to see another shot of you! This is so natural, and like you say, so perfect because you are out doing what you love to do :)

What a pro! Karen, when I peered more closely at your face, you no longer looked grumpy. I could see the half-smile or bemused look. (Blame it on my glasses and early-morning vision.) Your words resonate with me. Good for you!

Superb portrait of the photographer in action… :) You look really great and the sea in the background is such a nice touch!
