Camping up here was windy and cold. But waking up the next morning to see this view, the sunrise, amazing. The tourist sections have all been renovated, this is as it stands after weather and wind, villagers needing building materials and wars. This section was probably built during the Ming Dynasty—(1368-1644). The first sections of the wall were built as early as the Qin Dynasty in 221 B.C. It isn’t far from Badaling, the section that Nixon and many other tourists have visited, though we were out of the Beijing municipal district and into Hebei province. The road up was such that this will be the only shots I get of this, we have no desire to drive it again!
