The one good thing about winter in Beijing—decorations go up the end of November for Christmas (at least in some areas) and stay up through Chinese New Year. This is the entrance to my neighborhood, looking towards the neighborhood across the street.

    very nice – here in the UAE lights go up first of December for “national day” and generally they stick around till new years — so intentional or not we have “holiday” lights throughout the city — dave
