The Royal Clipper sets sail at dusk. She is my favorite ship and the largest clipper ship in the world, inspired by the tall ship, Preussen, built in 1902. The Royal Clipper was built in Amsterdam in 2000. She is a 439’ square rigged vessel with 5 masts and 56,000 sq. ft. of sail (42 sails). She holds 227 passengers and 106 crew members.

I am deeply concerned about environment, wildlife, and animal welfare, feeling a strong commitment to leaving the planet in better shape for new generations. Therefore, I support a number of charities that reflect those interests.

I have a degree in English and Library Science, but if I had my life to live over, I would have loved to have been a photographer, writer, and/or National Park ranger.

As a life-long lover of tall ships, thank you for sharing this one Nancy. I’ve not been able to see her yet, but she looks wonderful and this is a beautiful image. An immediate fave, of course!

  • Thank you for your comment,George. I, too love tall ships, and have been on this one, as well as the Portuguese training ship, Sagres, and the coast guard training ship, Eagle. Thank you for the favorite, too.
