Seamen line the yardarms on the coast guard training sail ship, Eagle, a barque which has 21,350 square ft. of sail. She was a German training ship taken as part of the spoils of war after WW II. She is stationed in New London, Connecticut, and had sailed to New Bedford, Massachusetts for a celebration of sail ships some years ago.

I am deeply concerned about environment, wildlife, and animal welfare, feeling a strong commitment to leaving the planet in better shape for new generations. Therefore, I support a number of charities that reflect those interests.

I have a degree in English and Library Science, but if I had my life to live over, I would have loved to have been a photographer, writer, and/or National Park ranger.

What a neat shot! Were they up there posing for pictures or did you just come along at the right time?

  • They were there as we sailed into the harbor. It sure gives me the willies, and I’m not afraid of heights. Thanks for stopping by, Kratos.
