Old stone footbridge by Nancy Richard

Located in Colt State Park, Bristol, Rhode Island, USA……….this bridge and the park was once part of a consolidated farm purchased by Samuel B. Colt in 1921.

Purchased by the state in 1965, the park was dedicated by Governor John Chaffee, to whom a statue has been erected in grateful appreciation for his efforts in attaining the park. It is known as the “gem” of the state park system and consists of 464 acres of fruit trees, flowering bushes, manicured lawns, and an open air Chapel By the Sea, where weddings are frequently booked.

Its western perimeter offers an open panorama of Narragansett Bay.

I am deeply concerned about environment, wildlife, and animal welfare, feeling a strong commitment to leaving the planet in better shape for new generations. Therefore, I support a number of charities that reflect those interests.

I have a degree in English and Library Science, but if I had my life to live over, I would have loved to have been a photographer, writer, and/or National Park ranger.

This is terrific…I really like the angle you chose. It shows wonderful detail on the bridge and still lets us see how it turns into the distance.

  • Thanks, Kratos. Posted it to a “bridges” group.

    Beautifully constructed and photographed..

  • Thank you, Eithne. I just wish that someone could have been on the bridge to lend realism to the photo.
