Mighty Colorado--Sculptor of Ages by

The mighty Colorado River etches layers of rock and sandstone through eons of time to create the GRAND CANYON ! Located in Arizona, USA, the Grand Canyon National Park hosts thousands of visitors from all over the world to see its majestic wonder.

The Colorado River begins in northwestern Colorado and runs 1450 miles to the Gulf of California. Beginning in the 1920-s western states began divvying up its waters, diverting flows. Dammed and collected, its coveted and heavily arbitrated waters are destined to slake the thirst of southwestern cities in the United States.and Mexico, serving such southwest cities as Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and others. At Lake Mead, formed by the Hoover Dam, the lake’s edge rocks leave actual rings (like bathtub rings). It is considered to be at least 130 ft. lower, with no end in sight. By the time it reaches its termination in the Gulf of California, it is little more than a trickle.

I am deeply concerned about environment, wildlife, and animal welfare, feeling a strong commitment to leaving the planet in better shape for new generations. Therefore, I support a number of charities that reflect those interests.

I have a degree in English and Library Science, but if I had my life to live over, I would have loved to have been a photographer, writer, and/or National Park ranger.
