A rare find, very luuuucky…? but that netting behind! Nice to see anyway.
Kristina K
unfortunately it was in an aviary with wire, but it was a very large walk through with plenty of trees and water holes etc, and i believe there was a natural breeding program in place as they are rare.
thanks for visiting ablyth

This is one ardorable bird.. This Kookaburra resembles the Hummingbirds shape & size, eyes too… But not that beak..lol.. The fluffyness in white is a real standout too. Excellent close up. It is nice to see this rare & unique species. Thanks..
Kristina K
thanks very much for your wonderful comment, and for telling me about your hummingbird, which i thought would of been smaller .

Beautiful photo, Kristina. When did you take it? I was at Healseville last year, July I think. I plan on going there again soon, I will have to look for this gorgeous young fellow.
Kristina K replied
I took it about 5 to 7 years ago in the big walk through aviary.
its wonderful there, have a good time when you go and dont forget to take extra batteries. i hope he is still there for you.

Thanks for the hint about batteries, kristina. I won’t be going until sometime after the end of September, I think. I just have to remember when the time comes – these old gray cells are excaping all the time!
