This guy was in an open Aviary, with many other rare birds.
Situated in Healsville Victoria Australia.

Kookaburras are found mostly in the bush and near the side of the road on electrical wires looking down listening for their next meal.

    A rare find, very luuuucky…? but that netting behind! Nice to see anyway.

    unfortunately it was in an aviary with wire, but it was a very large walk through with plenty of trees and water holes etc, and i believe there was a natural breeding program in place as they are rare.

    This is one ardorable bird.. This Kookaburra resembles the Hummingbirds shape & size, eyes too… But not that beak..lol.. The fluffyness in white is a real standout too. Excellent close up. It is nice to see this rare & unique species. Thanks..

    good photo, i went to a wildlife park a few weeks ago and heard a koocaburra singing, for the first time, its a very distinctive loud call isnt it.

    Beautiful photo, Kristina. When did you take it? I was at Healseville last year, July I think. I plan on going there again soon, I will have to look for this gorgeous young fellow.

    I took it about 5 to 7 years ago in the big walk through aviary.
    its wonderful there, have a good time when you go and dont forget to take extra batteries. i hope he is still there for you.
