Winter Comes To The Valley
Kawuneeche Valley, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
A sweeping landscape taken over a frozen river shows the rocky Mountains in all their glory. I decided to to this shot in B&W as I wanted to portray a more traditional landscape, something which I feel is starting to disappear sadly in today’s photography.
I hope you all enjoy it.

John, this is perfect in black and white…it really brings out the depth !!
Matt Benson
good shot John. I like the stark contrast with the sky and clouds.
Jan Cartwright
Icy and beautiful – the contrast levels are wonderful, and the circular flow from the snow-covered ground to the clouds leads your eye right through the image. Great work!

Great capture, John! Wonderful!

Seems you just keep coming up with another “best one” yet. You captured the shiver of winter with this shot. We are pulled right into the scene by those bare bushes in the foreground and then we see the mountains with the omminous sky looming and we feel the cold in our bones. Great shop, John!
