LARGE IS BEST
This is a Whale (~Kohola~) of a Tail (Tale)
Whale Watching in Maui peak time is February or early March. A few of them begin arriving from Alaska late November – December but more and more arrive as the season goes on. They disappear around April.

Here’s How it Goes:
Step 1….cut the frame

Step 2…stretch the fabric

Step 3…trim off extra fabric

Step 4…Make sure the fabric is all taught

Step 5…Begin preparing the canvas with 3 coats of priming paint

Step 7…Let the magic happen

acrylic & enamel on very curvy cut frame

Whales are truly amazing aren’t they.
I am surprised you stretch the canvas directly onto the frame and not on stretcher boards first, the traditional method. I am curious why you choose to do it on the frame???

  • Mahalo wahini….glad you like but I don’t even know what a stretcher board is…..I have always made my frames and stretch my fabric this way….I use all different fabrics too….. see what Jim said….aloha

This is a good one kj. Really like the colour choices you made. Couldn’t help to read the question Heather posed to you….. she’s obviously has never seen one of the wacky frames that come out of WhiteDove Studios…..LOL.

  • Mahalo brah’…glad you like what I’ve created….as for Heathers question….I think she thinks I know what I’m doing…..I don’t event know what a stretcher board is….wacky’s good? Right!?…lol
