Some people do not appreciate paua shell, I think they believe it ‘common’. Yes, it is found widely across all of New Zealand, but I fail to see how one can not love the endlessly different natural beauty of these colourful shellfish. I do not care for the seafood, one of the few I do not enjoy eating, but the shells are gorgeous. From the darkest hues of blue and purple to the lightest pearl shades of pastel pink, yellow and white, all shimmery and metallic. Then there are the patterns – never the same – swirls, lines, blotches, pearls……..

paua, abalone, abstract, macro, colorful, nature, natural, raw

I love to create. It brings me great pleasure.
