Procrastination Prevailing

This little prose was an exercise I was given that had certain criteria. Alliteration was required as well as the very structure was to reflect the theme or mood of the writing. I believe we were studying TS Elliot and Ezra Pound. Both were masters of unconventional poetry and sentence structure.

Seemingly similar,
a slippery slope of sighs shows
patterns of procrastination piling
one task upon another.

Time takes its terrible toll
making many managable mandates
into MOUNTAINS OF MELANCHOLY-
one task upon another,
one task upon another.

PRIORITIZING personal problems,
before beginning the basics- I’m buried beneath
one task upon another,
one task upon another,
one task upon another.
