I’ve been watching the cicadas…… they are amazing creatures and apparently this ‘green’ aussie variety is one of the loudest insects in the world…. anyone that’s heard them ‘singing’ will know how deafening they can be.
Untouched macro.

You are one brave woman, it looks like an alien.
Maybe the aliens are already here Lynn?
Don’t you have these guys in the States, I think they’re gorgeous and they are completely harmless, to me they signify ‘summertime’.
:D

I just love these litle guys. You’re right, these green ones are incredibly noisy little creatures, though it’s a sound that I love. I agree with you, it’s the sound of summer, the sound of warm nights :))
Even though it is the sound of summer they can sometimes be so loud that we have to squirt them with the garden hose, hehehe, they are soooo high pitched!!

cool pic Sylvia.. love it… summer is kicking in big time… this series with the green grocer is awesome
Hey Trevy, it’s going to be a very wet summer, I think all the rain we’ve had has driven them out of the ground, we literally have 100’s of them every day, and the birds are having a field day xoxoxo

This is a great Cicada capture! They sometimes fly right by me when I’m walking to my apartment. It’s always a thrill. They sound like little motors flying! LOL! I love that. As for their calls, they’re not as loud this year as last. I think some of the grumpier tenants have been spraying them to kill them, because of their LOUD calls. Some people here sleep during the day and are seriously serious about sleeping. But it could be the weather too. I’ve seen them with some kind of white bacteria on them. Don’t know what it is, but it kills them. But I personally love them. They’re beautiful, if hard to capture, and you’ve done a splendid job! Yours look a bit different from ours.
Great shot. There aren’t any around here so I haven’t heard their “song” for so long. I don’t miss it though.
Lovely image, well done!
