Aren’t they flying east…?

Well, I guess theoretically they are flying to the right which would appear to be to the east BUT if you were standing were I was when I took the shot you would know that that light in the background was the setting sun which I’m sure happens in the west here in Australia and I was standing to the east of the birds so I think that would mean they were in fact heading north!
