She set fire to the house
I pushed the button
Somebody opened the door
Her name was Monika
And Monika was mine ever more
She said I can’t be held responsible
For all the guilt in this world
Seven years is enough for any boy or girl
She set fire to the house
And watched it burn down to the ground
The house was in darkness
Monika made me insist
If you want to stay that’s alright
But it’s at your own risk
Keep your mouth shut
Keep it bottled up inside your head
Love is disappeared
Love is vanished all hope is dead
She set fire to the house
And watched it burn down to the ground
Pretty flames
Illuminated the night
Monika’s face was snow white
If she was ever unfaithful to me
Well I didn’t notice
Especially
There are murders
That aren’t murders
And they happen every single day
We break our promises
We find it hard to break away
Only Monika she left first
And in that cold clear dawn light
An empty can of kerosene
Helped that house of love burn down so bright
She set fire to the house
And watched it burn down to the ground
Watched it burn down to the ground

alistair mcbride
Nice work Sylvia really captures the song, just got his album “Close Ups’ a few weeks ago, lots of great acoustic versions of his old songs and this was one.
Damian
Looks very cool, as well as sinister!
Andrew Bosman
I knew that house would bring out the best in you Sylvia! Very cool.
Love the new profile shot too :-)
Kitsmumma
Hi Hien, thanks so much, you are too kind. Glad you liked it.
Halcyon007
Wow. The kind of image you can stare at for hours and yet still find something new each time – Brilliant
Kitsmumma
Hi Deborah, we must have been commenting on each others work at the same time…......spooky! I do have a vivid imagination but am also very inspired by music that I love. This is son is by an Australian artist named Stephen Cummings, if you get the chance look it up on youtube and have a listen, I’m sure you’ll love the song…......it is very beautiful and haunting! Love your comments.
Kitsmumma
alistair, we seem to have similar excellent taste in music! This is another old favourite. I have a couple of versions of it and love the one with Rebecca Barnard singing it. Thanks so much for your great comments.
Kitsmumma
Hi Damian, thanks so much. I think she was once a fair maiden driven to the point of madness and murder!
Kitsmumma
Hey! Boz, I also have a dark side! even though I look like angel! hehehe! Thanks so much. Hope this stirred your imagination!
Andrew Bosman
I’m getting excited now Sylvia, I must learn more about your dark side…......
Kitsmumma
Hi Stuart, thank you so much, such a wonderful compliment. I’m flattered, wasn’t sure people would like this one!
Kitsmumma
First, you need to work out which side it is Boz! hehehe! Have you worked out yours yet?
Andrew Bosman
See, you’re messin’ with my mind!!!!!!! Argh…....
bearhat
fabulous image to a great song. love stephen cummings. have you heard firecracker?
Kitsmumma
hehe, it’s so easy Boz! (kidding!)
Kitsmumma
Ahh! bearhat, you have fine taste in music too. Yes, firecracker is fabulous and even features Rebecca Barnard’s husband Shane O’Mara on guitar (he’s a bit of a legend, I think). Hope I did the song justice with my pic. Thanks for your comment.
Robert Knapman
Whoa! That the sound that happened when I opened this image. Now I am just staring. Powerful is all I can say. And what’s the story with the new profile pic? Do we have the same planets alligning or something? lol. I like yours too .)
Kitsmumma
Hope that was a good “Whoa!” Robert??
I really wanted to portray an image that worked with the lyrics of this song (do you know it? if not, have a listen on youtube). My partner was really spooked by it but he just couldn’t get past the fact that it’s my face. I don’t really look like this in real life! (I hope!).
As for the profile pics, is it a full moon?
botanicfanatic
Hi Kitsmumma, my first reaction was an expletive – in a good way :)
*#$%^ magnificent! Reminds me of the Aussie movie “Radiance” – powerful stuff. Am going to have to check out your music now. Thanks!
Kitsmumma
Alison, you have made me very happy!! That is the reaction I was hoping for! Thank you so much, such a wonderful compliment! Hope you like the song. Would love to know what you think… thanks again, Sylvia.
botanicfanatic
That’s only the second time in my life that my swearing has pleased someone, lol.
I’ll let you know about the music… can’t download anything here, so will visit a 3D shop :)
Robert Knapman
Yep that was a very good Whoa! And yes I saw Stephen Cummings and band perform last year at Womad in Adelaide – great voice. Lyrics don’t ring a bell – feel like they should -...off to youtube .)
Kitsmumma
ha! Alison, so what was the first time?
Kitsmumma
Excellent! Robert…................I’m sure you’ll love the song. Let me know if I’ve done it justice.
AnaBanana
Wuauuu this is a superb compo …. I love it

Aahh! AnaBanana, thank you so much. I’m thrilled it’s had such a great response, thought most people would be a little stunned!

Helene Kippert
Fantastic image Sylvia – very powerful!
karolina
Lovely work as usual kitsmumma! It looks like it should be the cover for a horror movie or book. there’s such a vicious and haunting feel to it… i think the eye is what really does it for me.
Kitsmumma
Hi mayuphoto, thank you so much. You are so wonderful with your comments. Very much appreciated.
Kitsmumma

Kitsmumma
Hi Helene, that it is. Thank you so much. I appreciate your comments on my work. Thanks again.

Empress
Such a tricky image. Had to remind myself to blink.
Stephen Cummings as in Liberation Blue release or previously?
Kitsmumma
Hi Empress, Thank you so, so much! BLINK NOW!
The 2 versions I have are all from the early 90’s so I think before Liberation Blue? I do love the Church’s acoustic album on Liberation Blue though!! Aquarius hey? Me too!! and agree about Roses, I do have lovely ones in my garden that do open and do smell lovely but don’t last long. They are a very old variety (climber) Bush Roses, I think. Thanks again.
hugo
A burning passion; great theme, excellently presented !!
Kitsmumma
Definately a burning passion Hugo! (why didn’t I think of that). Thank you so much!
ABSTRACT
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS WELL DONE!!!
Kitsmumma
Thank you so much ABSTRACT! Very much appreciated.
Danny
I remember seeing Steven Cummings singing this song many a time and thinking if this had of been a Sports song it would have been a 1000 more times popular than it is.
Always sung with such conviction, with a killer hook.
Your picture does it justice
10 out of 10
Kitsmumma
Hi Danny, I remember watching Sports on Countdown (I was about 11 or 12 when they were in their heyday!) and thinking what a wonderfully animated face Stephen Cummings had! I had forgotten just how many great songs Sports had. I liked all their stuff but hated ‘who listens to the radio’ for some reason, it really annoyed me. But anyway, definately would have been a different story had they recorded this song! I’m flattered that you think I have done it justice with my pic. Thank you!
I love your work by the way!
Nando MacHado
This reminds me a lot of the Sandman series (the Chapters opening images). Brilliant.
Kitsmumma
Hi Nando, thank you so much, huge compliment. Much appreciated.
mcdowell
i see many faeces in this
good work
mcdowell

Empress
Best sign of the zodiac, Aquarius. I figure it’s the sign of most people in my fictional town – pause for a second to imagine that… wow!
The Church is in the lower third of the CD stack but Dragon’s Sunshine To Rain is on top. Brilliant album.
Cathleen Taraw...
That is freaky and rivetting, good one.
melocin
absolutely gorgeous! adding it to my faves!
Kitsmumma
Hi mcdowell, I have finally stopped laughing long enough to be able to thank you for your comment. Don’t you wish you could delete/edit comments!
As for faces, yes, definately is more than one in there. I count 3! Many thanks for your comments!
Kitsmumma
I like to think so too Empress!......................... ooo the mind boggles…...................... I am going to endeavour to go back and read all your writing…..............just need to find the time….........
and I don’t think I have heard Sunshine to Rain but I do love Dragon. I used to live near Mark Hunter (when he was alive). I could never get over how tall he was!
Kitsmumma
Hey Cathleen, thank you so much. I find it a little freaky to look at myself!
Kitsmumma
Thank you so much nicole, very much appreciated.
