Jumping spider with prey by Ellie Won

I figured out today that I could use my white mixing bowl as a handheld flash diffuser, so I went in search of something to shoot and found this little jumping spider who had just caught its lunch!

I was trying my best to get some shots so that I could try my hand at focus stacking, but he would not sit still and I couldn’t adjust the focus quickly while I had one hand holding up the camera and the other holding up the bowl!

If anyone has any tips on getting shots for focus stacking with live bugs, they would be MUCH appreciated!

(I think that this little jumping spider might be from the Cytaea genus, but would appreciate if anyone can help me ID it!)

Lovely shot! I see that macro lens is working out very nicely for you.
