Octopus by

Something from a project im working on at the moment… I am looking at Japanese culture, particularly 18th century woodblock prints. Taking influence from Hiroshige’s fish studies, i am doing my own more modern version.

Instead of woodblock printing i have done several layers of monoprinting with acrylics. Then from these i have looked for images inside the abstract prints, and used inks to enhance certain shapes… in the case of this one i have exaggerated certain lines to make it look like an octopus (apart from the one long tentacle, which i just painted on).
