Artist's Description

Quote: Arnold Beisser

I pressed myself against the shore, sand covering my tummy. With my sidekick at my side, in his new shirt, I knew we would be able to scare these guys off and protect our people. My person held tight to my leash so I couldn’t run at them like I would have wanted to. Being a deaf dog I should have expected to be on a short leash but this was insane. Halbert, my main man, gave a little snort and rested his fluffy chin in the sand. If he’d had a tail I’m sure it would have been wagging. My stump of a tail was flying at a million miles a minute.
The two dogs in front of us weren’t tied up like we were so we waited patiently for them to come closer. Their person was far behind them so we had plenty of time to get to introduce ourselves. As soon as the black dog came close I sniffed his booty and he returned the favor. Halbert was a bit too short but he tried all the same. Our people pulled us back and I watched as the other dog’s person told them to keep running down the beach. I looked back at the littler person with her black flashing square she always had pointed in our faces. She wasn’t around all the time like my other people so I get pretty excited when she comes over. I wag my tail so hard my butt wiggles all over the place and I slide across the floor. Halbert jumps up her leg and snorts at her and I get so jealous when he gets all the snuggles. But it’s okay. Everyone knows all I have to do is look at her and she wants to pet me more than him. Because I have sparkly eyes and a “dumb” look on my face she says. Whatever that means. I’m not….THAT dumb….
