Artist's Description

Endemic to Europe, it is also known as Wolf’s Bane, Winter Aconite, in Hungary it is called Winter’s Sexton.
Occurs in forests, emerges from its tuber very early spring, not infrequently from under snow.

The whole plant contain aconitine, the strongly poisonous alkaloide causing hearth arrhythmia and in larger doses ultimately death not only to humans but even to wolves, as one of the vernacular names shows.
