Artist's Description

The China Jute, Buttonweed, Butterprint or Indian Mallow is native to Southern Asia.
In cultivation in China since around 2000 BCE for its strong, jute-like fibre, seeds are eaten in China and Kashmir.
Extremely competitive plant, heavy feeder, one of the so most detrimental weeds to corn causing serious crop yield loses in the US, where it was introduced and became an invasive weed.
