Native to Europe and Asia, abundant in Pakistan, where it is called Leli. It has innumerable vernacular names like Lesser Bindweed, Field Bindweed, Small-flowered Morning Glory, Creeping jenny and Possession Vine.
In spite of its attractive flowers, it is often unwelcome in gardens as a nuisance weed due to its rapid growth and choking of cultivated plants. It has been introduced to North America, where it is an invasive species.
On the painting the seed is not to scale.
