Sophronitis coccinea

Endemic to habitats in coastal mountains on ridges from the State of Santa Catarina northward through Parana, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro States of Brazil. It is also known from the Organ Mountains and the coastal mountains of Espirito Santo State.

The carmine red color of the flowers of this miniature jewel orchid is dominantly passed on to its innumerable hybrids.
