Canadian Hemlock - Tsuga canadensis
Other names are Eastern Hemlock; in the French-speaking regions of Canada it is called Pruche du Canada. This coniferous tree is native to Eastern North America.
Long-living tree, the oldest recorded specimen is more than 550 years old and the tallest one measured exceeds 170 feet.
Popular in gardens and parks; over 300 cultivars, many of them dwarf forms and shrubs are in cultivation.
