Flight over Florence by kirilart

oil on canvas, original size: 48 × 40 cm.

The last few paintings I dedicated to the beauty of Bulgaria and seemed like it’s time to take you on a “trip” to my favorite places in Europe. We start with Florence, the city-muse for generations of artists. The view from the top of the Dome with the Giotto’s bell tower and the city at the back made me dream of flight, free as the birds soaring above the square.

Kiril Stanchev is born in 1974 in the city of Rousse. He is a representative of the new generation of Bulgarian artists who are trying to combine the beauty in the tradition of the old masters with the complex emotions of the present. Inspired initially by the cultural atmosphere of his own family, and particularly by his grandfather Kiril Stanchev Sr., one of the well known names in Bulgarian art, Stanchev developed his style in the Sofia College of Fine Arts.

Gorgeous work with excellent detail (enough without being too much.) And I agree Florence is also one of my favorite cities as well, even though it was been quite a number of years since I’ve walked her streets.

Thanks Jim, your remark about the detail is exactly what I wanted to achieve – not too much detail to distract attention, I wanted the eyes of the visitors to fly above the landscape :)
