Moscow 2006, old Communists protest on Red Square. I was walking by on the way to and chanced to see this group on the way to meet some people. They’re a dying breed – notice there’s no young people in the group – and modern Russia has not done well by its elderly. I post-processed the image to make the photo look older and really bring out the Soviet colors.
Hi Kira. I love your other shots too, but what I wanted was to give you some recognition for this photo. It is special. The detail in the darkness. The strong red flags. Making the photo feel quite heavy. Heavier still by the expressions and spirit in this group. Politics is such a serious and disappointing business, you made me reflect.(We are lucky in Australia to get so many laughs from our bunch.) You capture the spirit of your subjects so well.
