Courthouse in Brigadoon
A Civil War – era - or, actually, antebellum, courthouse- one of the oldest courthouses nationally still in use. The stone monument just behind the corner brick pilaster commemorates the 100th anniversary in 1957. This is a workup for the watercolor here, “Picking the Tulips”. 8 1/2” x 11”; ordinary Crayola brand crayon on 25% cotton linen paper. Featured in redbubble’s “Rustic” group, November, 2009

There is always something magical about your houses, Kip. The way you draw / color them is incredibly original and – again – mysterious.
It’s the colors you choose, I guess – always so powerful and lively, yet not that bright nor strange to make one think this is a fantasy work. They always look so real – as you had the incredible ability of capturing the best of each existing house, and playing with the colors of each season in a most beautiful way.
