Color Polarity & The Blue Lotus
based upon Goethes color theory, the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, yin-yang dichotomy, the poetry and symbolism of the German Poet Novalis and the forces of light and dark, this became the spiritual embodyment of my major works. within this painting you can see all my thoughts on the world.
of all my works this would be the most dear to me.
exerpt from my major works. “Foundation Of Stone, Color Polarity & The Blue Lotus.”
“At first there was nothingness until the forces of dark awoke and began creating form. The forces of darkness are calm cool and caring, it brings to us the ability to weigh up all options and consider things carefully.
Into this cool, and slowly forming space, light burst forth full of energy and life.
The light forces bounced around and awoke the sleeping space and allowed it to come alive and to move, to charge forward full of purpose and confidence.
The two forces met and began to meld and repel each other. Push and pull, attack and withdraw, the combination of energy caused the colours to appear from the ensuing chaos.
The colours brought about a cushioning and stabilising balance to the two forces, and allowed different options for the first time. Each colour has different traits that correspond to a great many things, and it is through these colours that we develop who we are and what our personality is like.
The creation of the colours brought stability to the universe and gave space for things to grow. This force of creation and growth became the third force in the universe.
This third element became associated with the symbolism of a blue flower or blue lotus.
The blue flower and the third element give an example of growth in perfect balance, tailor made for each individual. It echoes the different stages of personal awareness.
When we look for inspiration or a higher plane of thought. We should feel what our own blue flower is like and embrace it for then, with inclusion and acknowledgement of all these forces we can become harmonious and closer to true, natural, balance and perfection; Perfection in the world, perfection in the mind and within the soul.”
not the best photo of it but it will do, theres no way i can get it into a scanner!

Goethe’s Theory of Colors (“Farbenlehre”) – fascinating book! I can see the influence of Goethe’s theory in the colors generated by the ‘shift’ from dark to light surrounding the yin / yang symbol.

More than all else do I cherish at heart that Love which makes me live
a limitless life in this world.
It is like the lotus,
which lives in the water, and blooms in the water,
yet the water cannot touch its petals.
They open beyond its reach.
The ocean of this world is very hard to cross.
Its waters are very deep.
