Slavin Me

We all know about the slavery days
We all know about the master’s ways
How they whipped slaves for showing pride
And revealing the strengths they had inside

So slaves showed an accomplishment
By having 4 and 5 women
Got respect for fornication
Extra points for impregnation

But who would’ve thought the behaviors of way back then
Would reveal today again and again
Why do you insist on slavin’ me
You’re not trying to fix what used to be
I know how slaves were sold
and taken away from their kids and house
But, what’s your excuse now

When the work was done on the field
For the slave that was a big ordeal
Do they sit with their family and have a meal
Or chill with they friends and ignore how they feel

It probably hurt too much to face emotions
Knowing they’ll soon be on a new plantation
Choosing your friends after work was done
Stronger ties with a pit bull than there own sons.

But who would’ve thought the behaviors of way back then
Would reveal today again and again
Why do you insist on slavin’ me
You’re not trying to fix what used to be
I know how slaves were sold
and taken away from their kids and house
But, what’s your excuse now
