The Red Slipper by

his is my original painting, acrylic on box canvas 14 × 10 cm…

This was painted for the Enchanted Visions April theme. I’ve always remembered the story of the ballerina who couldn’t stop dancing after putting on those red shoes, so this is sort of a twist on that theme.

The faerie has a sort of nasty look to her, perhaps she’s the one who created the enchanted shoes to start with. Anway, she’s only wearing one of the red slippers, so she’s managed to win that battle of the the danse macabre and now she’s sort of leaning/resting on a skull. Set against a night sky with some glittering stars in the background, this is my Red Slipper offering…

I paint on canvas in acrylic mostly, but sometimes the watercolours come out for a less controlled splash.

She’s intense! I love her even though I am a little frightened of her. Very cool art Kim!

  • Thanks Tammy, I think I was watching that Katy Perry ET one too many times when painting this… ;)

Beautifully painted, I would be weary of this fairy though :) ~ Anni

  • Thank you Anni, and yes I agree, I don’t think she looks that nice ~ she was meant to be a pretty ballerina but it didn’t end up that way! xx
