Kim grew up in the Caribbean on the Dutch side of St. Maarten. She first started to study art under the local artist Ruby Bute from the age of 6 and continued her studies with Ruby over many years. Her grandfather showed her the world of photography at an early age and sparked a passion for capturing the beauty around her (self-taught ever since). At 13 she began apprenticing under renowned glass artist, Jo Bean Chambers. She moved to Colorado at the age of 16.
Kim attended The Art Institute of Colorado for Graphic Design and also took fine art classes at the Metropolitan State College of Denver and a silversmithing course at Clear Creek Academy of Jewelry and Metal Arts.
She is happy to dabble in all mediums of art including: paint, pen and ink, color pencil, photography, lamp-work glass, jewelry design and sculpting.
Kim is driven by a love for traveling and enjoys experiencing the many cultures of the world. In her travels she loves to photograph everything that catches her eye and search for shells to use in her jewelry by sifting through sand on beautiful beaches.
