I Was Born In A Small Town

Original is oil paint on canvas. Inspired by Binney Street, Euroa and every other town like her. As you can gather from the title, I had a bogan upbringing. Small towns, great life in retrospect but bugger all to do. In fairness to my hometown, there is a little more than a milkbar, pub and the co-op, but not much more, Still we had fun, sort of. For all those who are, like me at heart, repressed bogans, the cars are based on an EK or FB ute and an EH or EJ Holden ute…. you decide. Just one note, if this makes no sense I was a little pickled when I painted it.

This painting really glows kimbaross…love all the vehickles!
I once knew a couple of blokes, one with a hotted up HR and the other with an EH, they were both pale blue…I myself and more of a VW connoseiur… another coincidence…...growing up near the Bogan River out near Tottenham

Wonderful painting, and makes perfect sense being born in Kyabram and living in an even smaller town now. Love the Exchange Hotel in the background, every small town has one, lol.

But Molly lived there, used to play footy against Ky when I was young and was listening to Jimmy Barnes….didn’t really know what he was saying.

You probably played against the Kerwin boys. I still have no idea what Jimmy is saying, but love him all the same :D

How cool, gotta love small towns and this is a great depiction.
I love the cars and the hotel, growing up in Castlemaine, this brings back memories of driving around doing ‘blockies’ in the EH’s and the likes, (my first boyfriend had an EK!) over and over LOL….

Great image ! Reminds me of where I grew up’Bullengarook” in Victoria and where we had all our kids ‘Childers’ Queensland.I’ll get out some AC/DC and Queen, drink VB and drive around in my Ford Falcon…...Oh oops that’s what we always do! Except we xxxx up in Brissie! Lol Milly
