I am an ocean,
Restless and changing.
Why can’t I be calm?
I don’t know.

I am a leaf,
Swaying and falling.
Should I hold on?
I don’t know.

I am a woman,
Beautiful and confident.
Why do I doubt myself?
I don’t know.

I am a child,
Needy and helpless.
When will I grow up?
I don’t know.

I am a pearl,
Cherished and valuable.
Why won’t I believe it?
I don’t know.

I am a plant,
Sprouting and growing.
When will I blossom?
I don’t know.

I am an artist,
Seeing and showing.
How can I tell them?
I don’t know.

I am a voice,
Whispering and shouting.
Why won’t they listen?
I don’t know.

I am my skin,
Wounded and healing.
Why does it take so long?
I don’t know.

I am a bird,
Winged and fragile.
When will I learn to fly?
I don’t know.

I am a song,
Major and minor.
Who will sing it?
I don’t know.

    Very artistic examples of doubt.
If you saved “I don’t know” until the very end, this poem would flow much better and make the phrase more powerful to me.
    I’m not saying change.
Your beauty shines from even your mind.
    Keep it up.

Thanks wolf. You’re probably right. This was written (I say written…it kind of just fell out) in bits and pieces between essays and research…I’m not surprised it got contaminated by the un-artistic things I was doing! :oP I will experiment with it.
