scene of destruction by Tony Middleton

Currently unavailable for purchase

A menacing storm approaches recently cleared land in western Qld. We (Aust) actually have one of the highest cases of land clearing in the western world (Qld in particular!) …yet, ‘we’ sit back and criticise/condemn the people in some 3rd world rated countries for ‘slash and burn’ farming techniques and the short term land usage from them as well as environmental destruction. Vast tracts of land such as photographed here are cleared every year for what is estimated to be a mere 30yr soil/land productivity use… hrmm….

*stop landclearing in Australia now ! *

EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50.

    thanks Jess and David.
It was an imposing sight seeing that storm come across what looks like wastelands… They do seem to leave the odd bottle tree (brachychiton ruspestris) standing when they clear the land….

I guess they figure the poor starving animals will need some shade to die under? Powerful shot, Tony!
