River strike
Screaming down from the heavens – this bolt landing about 500m beyond the Bass River… Quite an active storm for a short duration as it peaked…photographically hopeless though – due to anvil precipitation and outflow winds…leaving me with only 1 chance of a photograph this particular evening…so here it is :)
On closer inspection you can see that a couple of the ‘leaders’ are a lot sharper as they are more than likely leaping a bit forward out of the raincurtain, therefor giving them a less diffused appearance.

Wonderful view of a great strike… Well done Tony..
Geoff Coleman...
Bloody rain – hate the way it gets in the way of a good lightning shoot. Been lucky here in the last week – had 2 great storms out to sea with no rain from where I was shooting.
This is a ripper – very obliging of it to strike just in the right place to complement the pier and the colour and exposure are perfect.

Great shot Tone, been years since I’ve seen a lightening storm with bolts all I ever seem to catch is the sheet lightening ones, probably helps living on the coast, great composition and spectacular bolt.
Tony Middleton replied
Thanks Trav !It also mostly helps not living in Victoria…well…south of the divide in particular…
best of luck ! :)

Amazing capture
Tony Middleton replied
thanks Jodie and everyone for your comments !
Yep on film..I don’t believe in taking loads and loads of shots to get ‘the right one’ then have to spend a whole lot of time in front of a computer sorting/editing them out etc…I prefer to take in the experience and try to get it right with a couple of shots – thus spending more time out amongst what I love so dearly and not at a computer… but hey ! that’s just me ! :)
Basia McAuley
