Darby beach - Wilsons Promontory

As always click on image for a more detailed/larger view

Starvation flat is the calcenerite cliffs and sand drifts above Darby beach and is a place that I had not visited for a few years, yet I always had hoped to bring home a photograph that sums the place up for me. Its only a short walk of about 2.7km but doing it 4 times in 12hrs with my gear got a little tedious for me…I’d still like to return to experience and shoot the dunes someday soon, until then, this remains one of a few photographs that I made this particular trip to summise the place for me.

Fantastic scene Tony…Love this spot…you didn’t bump into the albino wombat did you???

  • Tony Middleton replied

cheers Rob ! nope not an albino one…if he was white I mate have seen him in the dark ! lol.
There are a lot of the paler wombats in that section of the prom though, and in particular the Cotter’s lake onwards area… they do look pretty cool :)

When I first opened this glorious image, I thought there were people sitting on the sand. Yep, I need glasses ;)
The colours are stunning as always….and I love how my eye follows the sand, to the land with the sea in between reaching the pièce de résistance….the heavenly sky…..

  • Tony Middleton replied

sounds good Rob ! I was more alluding that if it was a white one that I saw (errr stumbled on/over) then I may have seen it in the dark… hehe
