Spring showers
A stream of showers passes several km’s away sending the plains into a world of cold dull darkness. Meanwhile I’m standing amidst the spectacular dappled sunlight that is brilliantly illuminating the lush green pastures of the South Gippsland hills that are flourishing with the scent of spring in the air.

There is not enough room in my house to view this properly…:) the subtle light play is sublime…nice work man!!
Tony Middleton replied
hi George, yeah this is definitely one of those shots that is well outside of the golden hour yet it’s all about the light – thanks !
Clare McClelland
Lovely, soft and moody, so pretty
Tony Middleton replied
Hi Clare – yeah I think it has a unique appeal and beauty of it’s own as well, thank you :)
Globalphotos
Subtle light, lush and very beautiful. Would love to see a comparison shot in January. Great work !
Tony Middleton replied
Hi V’rin, thank you – the landscape is at its driest in march down here these days. You’ll find a shot amongst my blog somewhere from march this year – the grass had gone a luminous white colour after the heatwaves leading upto black Saturday – heatwaves with temps maxing at 46C. Would you believe there used to be rainforests in those very gullies only 100yrs ago…
Aleksander
superb lighting Tony!
Tony Middleton replied
thank you Aleksander !
Neil Boucher
I love what you do with this camera!
Tony Middleton replied
it’s just a big lightbox with some nice glass :) cheers Neil
Donovan wilson

I’d believe anything when it comes to deforestation and human lack of respect for the natural environment…...don’t get me started !! 100 yrs is not that long ago….sad
Tony Middleton replied
Yeah I know – I think we are on the same page here… It may have been 150yrs…but you get the picture… thanks as always :)
amko
Deceptively simple, but the more you look the more you see. I like it a LOT. :))
Tony Middleton replied
hi amko,
Great analogy and you are spot on – a large print of it has so much detail – right down to the cow pats in the paddocks. lol
The uploaded file is 56.5MB and 60’x20’ at just under 300dpi (files have to be less than 60MB for RB). So it should print – NICE :)
cheers,
Enivea
From a photographic perspective, obviously it’s a great shot…but I mourn the removal of the rainforests from areas such as this.
Tony Middleton replied
hi Enivea – I live here and know what you are getting at – trust me ! But it’s what it is at present, and it still has a beauty of it’s own. With more and more landowners and catchments in the area getting re-veged every spring and autumn it is somewhat a step in the right direction again.
Enivea
Yes Tone, perhaps we needed to go to the depths to see how dark it is….and now we are heading in the right direction – I certainly hope it’s not too little too late!
PatriciaLM
This place I must visit…. so very beautiful Tony ….
Patricia :-))
Tony Middleton replied
Thanks Partricia… it looks the lushest during spring so time your visit for then. :)

KISS principal at work again! Nice mate.
Tony Middleton replied
KISS ? From a gorgeous woman I hope… Other than that I’m unfamiliar with this abrev. Tim – cheers :)
Tim Wootton
Whatever! They both work! :-)
