Rainbow glow

Rainbow glow

Fallen casuarinas that tumbled to the water from wave erosion during deep low pressure systems in 2007 and 2008 line the beaches near Inkskip point in SEQ.
The view sweeps around to the famous coloured dunes of Rainbow beach and onwards to Double Island point and on large versions the glow from the lighthouse that adorns this point can be seen.

    Wow, beautiful!
Unfortunately there is even more erosion now :( You cannot access the beach from Rainbow Beach to Double Island by 4wd unless there is a huge low tide :( So much erosion and trees strewn across the beach. Only time will heal it :)

  • Tony Middleton replied

Thanks for such a great comment Kate !
Yeah there would be some substantial erosion there atm, prior to this photograph there had been 3 intense low pressure systems in 6 weeks there. During one of them (you may recall the flooding at Tewantin – noosaville etc) Rainbow beach scored an incredible 748mm in 18hrs ! So like now, I think it had been the case for a couple of year – access from Rainbow to Double Island point was not possible.
