This is another shot from the dust storm event that occured earlier in 2008 in Victoria. I already uploaded a photograph from this event but I really love the rare ‘cobalt’ coloured water in this one which was taken about 30minutes after the previous image that I uploaded.

Here on the South Gippsland coast the blanket of red-brown dust approaches and crosses Bass Strait ahead of the rainband. I had to find a place of relative shelter from the 100km/h winds to capture this amazing scene before me. With the shores protected from the winds by the towering cliffs the water several hundred meters offshore was almost a blur with ‘reverse’ whitecaps. The ocean took on an incredible cobalt blue colour whilst the sky looked eerie and from another planet.
