Great shot. I know how shy dragonflies can be and you have gotten incredibly close to this one. Great detail and DOF too.

He was hanging around my pond.
I soon realised that if I disturb him he would come back and land in the same spot, so I got in position and just waited,he was very cooperatative.

I’m using a Canon EF 180 macro lens.

Vibrant colours – strong reds, and delicate reflections like a rainbow in the wings – wonderful capture – must treat myself to a proper macro at some point…......

OMG!!! WOW!!! this is amazing – i have just started (today) trying macro work and it is v. hard (for me) to focus fast enough on the ‘moving’ insect before it flies off… this is magic…

Now that’s a Dragonfly! Awesome foucs, fine detail, perfect color and exquisite lighting. Nothing short of a vision!
