I am a teacher of English and I have been living in Japan for the past 25 years. I started taking photographs seriously about three years ago, after I got a Canon G9 as a birthday present. Although, I used to be very interested in photography at University I basically became interested again when my 6 year old son started to use my old Nikon point and shoot. He loves insects and nature and we spend a lot of the weekends walking around looking for interesting macro subjects to shoot. He’s getting good and there’s a bit of rivalry between us to the point that he’ll push me out the way if he thinks I’ve got a good subject or a better angle!
As well as the photos, I also direct animated movies in the ‘machinima’ style, which can be seen here;

Valentine picture with surprise video
